10 Mar Drin Adventure Guides Play a Key Role in Life-Saving Operation at Osum Canyon
A complex rescue operation was successfully completed at Osum Canyon, where an individual had become trapped in a dangerous section of the terrain. The intervention, lasting nearly six hours, unfolded under harsh weather conditions, with low temperatures and limited visibility.
The operation brought together the Mountain Search and Rescue Group of Albania, part of the Albanian Mountaineering Federation, alongside the Mountain Search and Rescue teams of Elbasan, Tirana, and Dibër. State structures also joined the effort, including the Renea Special Forces, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania, the National Civil Protection Agency, and the Local Police Directorate of Berat.
A particularly decisive role was played by the Black Drin Adventure guide, whose expertise, professionalism, and deep knowledge of alpine terrain directly contributed to saving the trapped individual’s life. The vertical descent of approximately 120 meters, carried out in extreme conditions, required advanced technical skills, determination, and flawless coordination – qualities that our guides demonstrated with commitment and responsibility.
